Calvin completed his Master’s degree in Computer Science emphasizing artificial intelligence from Brown in 2024, and his B.S. in Computer science from Kansas State University in 2019. Before Brown, he worked for three years as an avionics software engineer at Garmin, where he designed and developed safety-critical embedded systems for aircraft displays. In research at Brown, Calvin built a VR application that interacted with a Boston Dynamics Spot Robot, rendering a live point cloud for spatial awareness and allowing advanced control of the robot’s arm and body. While studying for his Master’s, he gained experience in a variety of deep learning solutions for object detection and language processing through an internship at Citizens Bank and part time work with Owl Box AI. Calvin excels at building modern AI research techniques into scalable software applications.
